Antivirus programs are designed to prevent, search for, detect, and remove software viruses, and other malicious software like worms, trojans, adware, and more. Antiviruses work by comparing information about a file to its database. If it finds a file that matches its database such as ransomware or other malware, it will attempt to immediately quarantine the file or delete it, preventing damage to your device.
